Birgit Severin holds an MA in Contextual Design (Design Academy Eindhoven, 2013) and Cognitive Neuroscience (Maastricht University, 2008). Interested in the relationship between mind and matter, she worked in 2020 with empathy researcher Prof. Tania Singer at the Max Planck Institute for Social Neuroscience. Their work has been shown nationally and internationally at pres- tigious museums (e.g. Museum of Craft and Design San Francisco, USA; Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin, DE), biennales (e.g. Design Biennale of Venice, IT; Biennale in Saint-Etienne, FR), and fairs. They received numerous funding for „design research“ through artist residencies, such as „Villa Kamogawa“, Kyoto (JP) 2019 and Kulturakademie Tarabya, Istanbul (TUR) 2023. Both artists/designers have been professors at the GIU in Cairo (EGY) since September 2022.
